Certainly the most compelling feature in the Eos is its retractable sunroof, which VW has dubbed the Cabriolet Sunroof Coupe or CSC. Operating at just the touch of a button, the CSC retracts in 25 seconds. Comprised of five panels made from heated glass, the Eos’s retractable sunroof with panoramic electric sliding is also fitted with Trunk Lid Assistance, which has sensors that prevent the roof from opening if there is an obstacle present of 50 centimetres or more hindering the process.
 
The Volkswagen Eos is available to buy in three trim specifications, namely the 1.4-litre TSI, the 2.0-litre TSI Sportline and the 2.0-litre TSI Sportline with six-speed automatic DSG transmission. While the 1.4-litre engine delivers 118kW at 5 800rpm, the 2.0-litre TSI Sportline engines deliver 147kW at 5 100rpm. With a zero-to-100-kilometre-per-hour acceleration of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 232 kilometres per hour, the 2.0-litre Volkswagen Eos has plenty of acceleration and cruising speed for you to enjoy a solid coupe experience on the road, while the standard turbocharged-injected power in every engine makes powering around corners and on the highway a breeze.
 
In addition, the Eos’s ride quality is beautifully smooth as a result of independent McPherson front strut suspension and an anti-roll bar in the front and rear, as well as a multi-link rear axle. Wide track and large, 17-inch alloy wheels, combined with solid sport suspension in the 2.0-litre VW Eos Convertible create handling that is reminiscent of many Golf models: solid, safe and responsive. The sport models have fine-tuned suspension for a more solid drive than in the standard Eos, as well as larger wheels, aluminium trim details, red light clusters and two-tone interiors.
 

 
The VW Eos Convertible is handy as it’s small enough for zipping around town and yet it easily seats four adults in a luxury leather interior. Packed with features that VW has made an effort to standardise across the Eos model range, this Volkswagen convertible has a well-designed cabin that is equipped with easy-to-use, sensitive controls. Illuminated by VW’s trademark racy blue-and-white instrument illumination, these controls include a multi-function computer, cruise control, “Climatronic” air-conditioning – which allows control of the airflow in each part of the interior - a CD-radio with MP3 capability and eight speakers and optional satellite navigation with a colour screen.
 
There can be no complaints about the Eos body as its curvature, wind dynamics and hard-top design all work towards combining the coupe with the cabriolet style for maximum ease of use. The result is a fully galvanised and laser welded body that incorporates colour-coded door handles, a stylish bumper and a rounded chrome-plated grille on one of the most attractive VW Cabriolet cars currently on the road. Electric headlight height adjustment, coming-and-leaving lights – which stay on for a few minutes after the car has been turned off for safety illumination – and standard front and rear fog lights add to the VW Eos car’s smooth and functional exterior. Optional Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and headlamp washers give drivers the opportunity to accessorise the Eos.
 
The Eos has the benefits of a top-level car, owing to its luxury interior and retractable CSC, and yet unlike so many other convertibles, it can be driven every day to work. Useful simply for a trip to the beach in ultimate style and air-conditioned comfort, this Volkswagen convertible has space enough for family and friends in comfortable rear seats, which are also adjustable for the packing of additional luggage. Storage pockets in the rear of the front seats allow for the stowing of delicate items, while seat heating, lumbar support and head restraints cater for the comfort and safety of passengers.
 

 
The Volkswagen Eos has one of the classiest presences on the road owing to its retractable hard sunroof and large alloy wheels with glass and aluminium surfaces that glimmer in the sun.
