The Scirocco is definitely Volkswagen’s sportiest model yet. With the same youthful, funky styling of the Golf (only much more exaggerated), Volkswagen continues to produce contemporary, functional cars that appeal to a large number of drivers.
Styling – An elongated roof gives the Volkswagen Scirocco an elegant presence while still maintaining the traditional appearance of a hatch-style coupe. The overall body of the car measures 4.26 metres long and 1.81 metres wide, providing the foundational structure and additional support for racetrack-style handling and unrivalled, responsive steering. Designers of the VW Scirocco went all out when piecing together ideas for the next-generation Scirocco – with 17-inch “Long Beach” alloy wheels, a front grille that adds to the car’s intimidating stance and precisely styled B-pillar window lines and a rear spoiler exude sporty appeal.
Inside the new Volkswagen Scirocco lies a world of race-oriented trim and finishes that imitate the feeling of being in a Formula 1 racing car. Matte chrome touches line the instrument and door panels to create a sophisticated appearance. The VW Scirocco’s edgy styling continues to the interior with triangular handles and controls. The racing seats can be adjusted to accommodate a driver of up to 1.90 metres tall without reducing any legroom in the back. In addition to its spacious cabin, the new Scirocco also offers a roomy luggage compartment that measures 292 litres – quite impressive for a coupe.
Performance – Available to purchase in three model types, the 1.4 litre TSI manual, a 2.0-litre TSI manual and a 2.0-litre TSI DSG all deliver impressive performances of up to 155kW of power. The TSI in the engines is exclusive to Volkswagen and provide the engines with the extra boost needed to excel in performance while still maintaining maximum fuel-efficiency. These engines are built specifically for petrol engines to release low carbon emissions, making them beneficial to your pocket and kinder on the environment. The TSI technology allows enhanced acceleration which happens almost instantaneously, which means that there is no lag between gear-shifting – making uphill drives smoother and general acceleration fast. Because the TSI engines are small, they require little fuel and thus they are incredibly fuel-efficient.
All new Scirocco TSI models come with a manual transmission, except the 2.0-litre TSI DSG model which comes with a dual-clutch gearbox. The DSG is equipped with two clutches that are electronically controlled by twin shafts that manage the gear selection and also anticipate your next gear shift, resulting in effortless shifting. The dual clutch transmission makes for smooth shifting, uninterrupted acceleration and improved fuel consumption.
Safety – The New VW Scirocco holds the Volkswagen badge; for this reason you can rest assured that only the best safety features have been fitted to this sports coupe. The vehicle offers superb handling and driving, which makes it easy to get comfortable in the driver’s seat with its effortless manoeuvrability. For a high-powered sports car, advanced safety features are crucial to ensure maximum protection and control in compromising driving situations. Stand-out safety features of the new Scirocco include:
- Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
- Brake Assist and counter steering assistance
- Anti–lock Braking System (ABS)
- Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)
- Traction Control System (TCS)
- Multiple airbags for driver and passengers
- ParkPilot - VW’s safety and security system that allows for easy parking, especially in tight parking bays. ParkPilot alerts the driver with signal sounds inside the car to indicate whether the distance between your new Scirocco and other obstacles is too small
The Scirocco is also fitted with top-of-the-line security features that include the “Plus” antitheft system that reduces the chances of your car being stolen or broken into. The system operates via a comprehensive monitoring system embedded in the interior lighting.
